WOODHEAD, Peter (German Swiss International School (GSIS))

Time:15 June 2012, Friday, 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Venue:Room 321, 3/F, Run Run Shaw Building, HKU
Sub-theme:e-Leadership: Leading e-learning in a changing education ecology – managing change in a constantly changing environment
Presentation format:Workshops
Medium of instruction:English

In this workshop we will reflect on the lessons learnt from the disruption caused by the outbreak of Swine Flu in 2009 when students had to work to at home and teachers had to develop e-learning resources at school. This experience offered a fresh insight into the processes that drive the adoption of technology in schools. It takes another look at Rogers’ Diffusion Model of Change and introduces the concept of an ‘Energy of Activation’ to explain how a change in the equilibrium of forces, can create a ‘tipping point’ that fosters the adoption of innovative teaching practices.
