Abstract

Universities are asking what new kinds of learning places are needed? Do we need to duplicate existing classrooms, lecture theatres, library facilities and services, designed prior to the introduction of new technologies and new practices or should we re-think our physical environmental needs, taking into account changing student study habits, changing curriculum requirements and emerging technological and pedagogical practices. This presentation explores the challenges of doing things differently and providing students and teaching staff with new ways of working, taking into account new technological practices and changing educational needs.
